The objective of this research was to arrive at a list of top schools in each zone in Delhi NCR. The study had three major modules i.e. Desk Research, Factual survey & Perceptual Rating Survey..
A perceptual sample survey of 960 was conducted in different zones – North, East, West, South East, South West, Central, Noida, Greater Noida, Gurgaon, Ghaziabad & Faridabad. The geographical spread of the sample was ensured by selecting multiple starting points spread across the city.
The module 1 was a secondary research module. A comprehensive list of schools was generated with the help of internet, magazines and other publications. The various sources used for generation of school list included:
More than 600 schools were sent the factual questionnaire for filling request via emails and then rigorously followed up through telephone.

A perception questionnaire was administered to respondents. Respondents were asked to give rating for only those schools which they were aware of and had included them in their list of top schools in Delhi or their zone. Re s p o n d e n t s were provided a list of parameters to evaluate the schools & rate on a scale of 1-10 where 1 means poor & 10 means excellent. The list of parameters covered in the survey was arrived at based on past surveys as well as discussions with experts from the industry experts and teachers etc. As mentioned, the 5 different stakeholders were taken into consideration for the perceptual survey viz. Teachers, Alumni, Students, Parents of aspiring students, Parents of existing students.
In this module, importance weightages were calculated using regression model for each of the parameters leading to analysis of both factual index & perceptual index scores. Further analyses were done to arrive at the final score for each of the schools. The overall index score for a school was arrived at by equal weightage to their perceptual and factual score. Based on the performance on the overall index score, final ranking were drawn in respective categories. Schools which did not participate in the factual survey were assigned an average factual score.
Schools that have been around for a while, are respected by the community for their academic performance and infrastructure, and are generally viewed as the best. For the purpose of this research only schools that have had at least three batches of class XII graduates were considered for this ranking
Waiting-in-the-ranks schools – ready to grab the initiative from the leaders in the blink of an eye. This set comprises of schools that have scored well in the research but didn’t feature in the top 10 but have potential to be in leader category in future
There are some schools who have implemented innovative approaches of imparting education; such schools were considered for “Innovators” category. Their ranks have been assigned, considering both qualitative & quantitative performance
